‘Be Prepared’ for Hereford Scout Post 2015 – soon to be upon us!

What is the Scout Post?

The Scout post is a fundraising exercise carried out every year by Hereford Scout Groups. We collect, sort and deliver Christmas cards in the Hereford city area at a cost of 25p per card. The Post is an important source of revenue for the groups.

So how does it work?

The Scout Post is a 4 phase operation:

Phase 1: Publicity

Each scout group has a list of streets to which it delivers and these are then broken up into routes of about 80 houses.

Phase 2: Collection.

This will take place over the weekends of the 28th/29th Nov and 5th/6th Dec. The public drop off their cards and pay the scouts.

Phase 3: Sorting.

So now we have thousands of cards that we need to sort into streets so they can be delivered. Obviously a time consuming process, but many hands make light work.

Phase 4: Delivery.

Cards need to be delivered preferably on the weekend of the 12th/13th of December, and by the 18th December at the very latest.

The Scout Post is an important event in our calendar and we will need your help to ensure that it runs smoothly.

If you have any questions or suggestions, do not hesitate to contact your section leader.

Many thanks to people who post their cards via Scout post and everyone who participates to make it a huge success.
