Recently over 120 young people attended an event at the Shire Hall where their achievements in Scouting were celebrated.  Each of them had worked hard and completed numerous badges to achieve the highest badge for each of their age groups.  The guests of honour were Rear Admiral Phillip Wilcocks and Mayor Jim Kenyon, with a special appearance from Bertie Beaver.  We would like to thank them for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us.  Mayor Jim Kenyon has recently been made an honorary member of 1st Hereford Scout Group. The Mayor said “ It was a real honour to be asked, the Scouting Movement in Herefordshire is fantastic.”

Each and every award recipient has demonstrated an immense commitment to Scouting and are the embodiment of our Scouting values of integrity, respect, care, belief and cooperation.  The Beaver Scouts, aged 8, gained the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award.  Cubs get Silver, Scouts get the Gold Award.  In the last twelve months four members gained their Queen’s Scout Award which is the highest youth award of The Scout Association.

The biggest thank you goes to all the Adult Volunteers across the District who provide fun, challenge and adventure for our young people every week.  Without their drive, enthusiasm and devotion there would be no awards.

Scouting has a positive impact on young people and we always need more volunteers to make it happen
