This afternoon I have been out to the District Explorer/Scout camp, where a dry afternoon found approximately 85 young people busy partaking in various activities. These included orienteering, pioneering, friendship bracelets, pizza making, archery and shooting. The newest activity to be introduced is axe throwing [district has purchased target boards and equipment]. Canoeing had to be cancelled because it was too wet !! [ the river was considered to be too high and fast so the activity was cancelled for health and safety reasons].
After evening meals, [roast chicken dinner was tempting!!] a camp fire is planned. [hope the neighbours have ear plugs!!]
During the course of the afternoon, an international twist was introduced. Two scouts from Australia, who are visiting this country at the moment, Rhys and Dillon, came to join in and see what happens on a weekend camp.
On behalf of South Marches District, I would like to say thank you to Rhys and Dillon for visiting us, wish you every success in your scouting life, and a safe journey home.
What an awesome weekend …..
